The book tells the story of the young Amesbury Archer who travelled across prehistoric Europe to Stonehenge around 4300 years ago. The Archer’s grave (he probably died sometime in his 40s) was excavated by a team from Wessex Archaeology on the downs above the small market town of Amesbury, near Stonehenge. He was one of the Beaker People. His burial is the richest in Britain and one of the most well-furnished in the whole of Europe from this period. More than 100 objects had been placed beside him, including a pair of rare hair tress rings made from beaten gold and three copper daggers. Together these are the earliest metal artefacts ever found in the British Isles.

Suitable for children from about 8 to 12 years (and interested adults too!) the book is well researched and ties in to the National Curriculum at Key Stage 2.
